I’m a part-time student in seminary, working full-time to support my family as I finish out my Masters of Divinity in Advanced Biblical Studies. So why do I have a linux blog? Well – to put it quite simply, I’m a bit of a nerd. Just wish I was a much smarter one!
I enjoy the challenge of figuring new things out, especially the challenge of bending my computer to do exactly what I need it to do for me. And that’s one reason I love open source and linux in particular. I’m not a programmer (though I have aspirations which may get slightly satisfied after I can finish my present course of school), but I don’t mind rolling up my sleeves and tinkering under the hood of my computer, both in the software and hardware categories.
Presently my linux experience is primarily Ubuntu. In the future I plan on trying out other linux operating systems. But my time is limited. It’ll happen when it happens.
I am a Christian, a Christ-follower if you will. Though I find that most of the assumptions people make about Christians are inaccurate or naive (or many times born out of experience with people who claim to be Christians, but who, in reality, live less by Christ and more by rules). In my understanding, the Bible details a Christian as someone who has restored their relationship with God through the sacrifice of Christ.
But tech is a tool, and on this blog I deal mainly with my attempts to bring tech a little more under my control. If you’re interested in reading more about me personally, check out my blog. If you’d like to debate my beliefs or just read more of what I have to say about them, check out my thinking blog. And if you’re feeling really adventuresome, you can alwasy check out the sampling of my library I’ve been able to discuss online in my book review blog.
